Nestle: We’re in legal trouble for using Child Slaves in Africa !

Apparently making chocolate in Ivory Coast requires the use of Child Slaves in Ivory Coast – at least that’s what the executives at Nestle thought when they were reportedly caught using children to harvest cocoa in Ivory Coast, Africa.

According to Reuters,  the US Supreme Court rejected the appeal from Nestle and two other companies to dismiss the lawsuit in December 2014. Unfortunately, this is not the first allegation against Nestle.

According to The Independent, The children workers, originally from Mali, say that the companies supported human rights violations by purchasing  cocoa from Ivory Coast. The companies were allegedly aware of the problem of child slavery in the region yet provided financial and technical assistance to local farmers to get the cheapest product.
